Farewell Dr. Allison Massopust!

It’s with a heavy heart – but also a lot of good wishes – that we bid adieu to an amazing friend, colleague and clinician, Allison (Ali) Massopust. After 7 years at Beacon, Ali and her growing family will head north at the end of September to Truckee, CA to begin a new life adventure!

Ali received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at UCSF and immediately following, she completed a year-long residency program in an Inpatient Rehabilitation center at Kaiser Vallejo, certifying her as a Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Therapist (CPNFT).  In 2014, Ali was certified, with honors, as a Functional Manual Therapist® (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) and is currently a faculty member for the IPA teaching CFMT® coursework in Core First Strategies to physical therapists across the country. In 2016 she received her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification through the American Physical Therapy Association.

From her experience as a collegiate tennis player at UCSD, she has sustained a passion for recreation. She has practiced yoga since 2008 and finds many parallels within that practice to the goals of physical therapy. She is an avid skier and continues to participate in various recreational sports.

Ali takes an integrated, whole-body approach to care.  Regardless of the current status of her patient’s physical health, Ali feels it’s always possible to improve in some way.  Whether you have experienced an acute injury, or if you have been living with a chronic condition, it’s always been her goal to take you to optimum function. Oftentimes individuals only recover to 80% from an injury or condition, but miss the last 20% of recovery, preventing full return to activities. No matter how essential or trivial an activity may be, if it is important to Ali’s patients, it is important to her.

Ali, we will all deeply miss your warmth, humor, mentorship, and expertise – but we also know that wherever you land next, they will all be so lucky to have you! Cheers to all things ahead…
